Feeling the Gift of Giving

The heart of Service Learning is understanding the gift of giving of one's time or talents to another.  

It is a beautiful gift that we are learning through our time with our Preschool buddies. And it's lovely to behold.

One part of our December work was to collect hats, mittens and gloves for the homeless shelter along with the Early Childhood Center.

Next we created soft snowman stuffies to give as gifts to our Preschool buddies.  

We packed them into gift bags and off we went to give them to our buddies.

 Back in the room during our debrief the crew all agreed that their hearts "felt warm"  when they gave their gifts.

Finally we were invited to create snowmen with our buddies.  Glue/shaving cream and joyful creating came next!

Our sweet buddies then handed us a gift.

Candy canes tied to a handprint.  The card read:

"Thanks for lending a helping hand."

What a fabulous day of learning for our crew!

We all learned so much from our Chinese teachers!  The crew seemed to enjoy the dumpling making and the paper cutting the best. The fan dancing always makes smile. Thanks to all of the chaperones. You were so very helpful and helped our day go so smoothly.
